Hi I’m Helen, founder of Tots Play. Welcome, and thanks so much for being here. Taking this first step towards exploring something new for yourself and your family is no small thing. When I started Tots Play, it was born from a simple but powerful desire – to be the mum I wanted to be. One who was fully present in my daughter’s life as well as being a role model for her, but without losing myself or what I wanted from life too.

What is Tots Play?

Tots Play is unique and comprehensive programme of fun, interactive classes for babies and toddlers, bringing together six key elements of play and development into one engaging journey that takes our Tots from birth right up to pre-school.

Our curriculum is specifically designed to nurture the social, emotional, intellectual and physical development needs of children at every stage from birth right up to four years old.

It’s a programme that provides every class a child (and parent) needs in one!

Every Class In One!

Parents love that they don’t have to choose between baby massage, baby yoga, sensory play, sign language, music or physical play – Tots Play combines all of these into each class, providing one engaging, age-appropriate programme suitable for all.

Classes are specifically crafted for different age groups, ensuring the perfect fit for development and engagement.

Lots of our families start with us when they have a tiny baby and then continue through the different stages of the programme as their baby grows, often for many months or years – and then they bring their next child along!

Classes at a Glance

The journey from the earliest weeks of life all the way to school age is an amazing thing to be part of.

Here’s a quick look at the core classes you can offer:

Baby Development Course (Birth to 6 months)
A nurturing 6-week course that introduces baby massage, yoga, sign language, tummy time, sensory play and more. It equips parents with the knowledge and confidence to navigate those crucial early months in a supportive space and to focus on their own wellbeing too.

Discovery Tots (8 weeks to crawling)
Weekly classes full of playful interaction and developmental fun especially designed for little ones not yet on the move. Parents aren’t forgotten, with a social element built in to each class, allowing friendships to blossom.

Social Tots (Crawling to 2 years)
Our Social Tots classes provide the perfect blend of structured and free play for our crawlers and toddlers, with short, interactive activities designed to keep them busy and engaged. Fun and learning through play at its best!

Action Tots (2 to 4 years)

This fast paced class for our older toddlers and pre-schoolers continues all the key elements of the Tots Play programme, plus adds early riding skills on our toddler sized balance bikes and more – great preparation for school!

Each class builds on the last, creating long-term relationships with families and a natural journey through the early years.

Gemma's Story

Meet Gemma. After 15 years of primary teaching she was at a point where she was spreading herself so thinly that she felt unable to give her best either at work or at home and everyday was becoming a struggle. This is what she had to say about making the decision to leave.

“Teaching was a fabulous career for 15 years, until it simply didn’t fit anymore. I had my own little girls and I got stuck in a ‘Mum guilt’ trap. I’d spend every working day feeling guilty that I was at work and I had things going on so I was missing those precious first milestones and hearing about them second or even third hand. Teaching part time hasn’t helped either because I swing between feeling guilty about not being at work and being guilty about not being at home.”

Her business now allows her to continue to pursue her passion of supporting children and families, but gives her the time and headspace for her own daughters too.

Kate's Story

Our franchisee, Kate, made the big decision to make a complete career change a few years back.

She had trained and was working as an accountant, but it was a role she was never really happy in. After having her first daughter and bringing her to classes, she started to see that a different future was possible. Here’s how she describes her life now;

Unlike many franchises, which take a percentage of your income, our simple, flat rate, monthly fee makes it easy for you to budget. It also means that the benefits increase as you grow your business, as the more you earn the more you keep!

What Could You Earn?

Your earnings will depend on the number of classes you run and how your business grows, but once established, profits of £10,000–£30,000 per year are very achievable running all sessions yourself—with the flexibility to still do the school run!

On average, our franchisees typically earn between £80 - £100 per fully booked class they run.

While earnings cannot be guaranteed, here are some examples of potential income levels based on running the number of classes shown, at full capacity, during term time only to give you a general idea of what’s possible.

Building to these levels does take time, but is absolutely achievable with time, effort and energy – it’s also just the start!

Want to take your business further? Grow into a management style franchise by taking on class leaders and other staff to build your income even more.

In essence, what you earn will be up to you, but we will be with you every step of the way to help you achieve the goals you set yourself, and unlike a standard pay check, those earnings are limited only by you and the vision you create.

What About Time?

This business is designed to fit around your lifestyle.

You can choose to run it part-time, just a few mornings a week, or build a full-time operation, depending on your goals. You can work at times that suit you, ensuring you’re available for your family at key times, such as the school run, bed times, weekends and holidays. You’re in control.

You can start while working part-time elsewhere, but we recommend keeping other commitments to no more than two days a week to give your business the time and attention it needs to grow.

While you have full flexibility, effort is still needed to build a sustainable business, so like anything worthwhile, you’ll get out of it what you put in. Steady, consistent action will lead to something you can be truly proud of.
