Grandparents Are Always Welcome at Tots Play

Going back to work after spending time at home with your baby or toddler is a big moment. It's not just about returning to a job, it's about letting go of a routine that has been built with so much care. The weekly class attended together, the familiar songs, the friendly faces. Letting go of the class that brought you and your little one so much joy during your early weeks and months can be quite an emotional time.

If this is where you are, we want to gently reassure you. Our Tots don't have to lose the classes they love just because work routines are changing or maternity leave is ending. At Tots Play, grandparents and other carers are always welcome to bring little ones along.

Often the biggest worry for us is the change in our little ones routine. Babies and toddlers find comfort in familiarity, especially during times of change. Being able to continue attending the same class, in the same space, with the same activities makes a real difference. Even if a parent is not the one walking through the door, the experience will always be the same for your baby.

And for grandparents, stepping into this role often becomes something really special. What begins as helping out soon turns into a moment in the week that is just theirs. A chance to slow down, to sing, pla, and connect without distractions. A routine that feels meaningful for both of them.

One grandparent from Tots Play Doncaster East shared this about bringing her grandson along:

“I like to bring Elijah to Tots Play because it’s our bonding session. We do have a lot of time together as a group, but this is our one-to-one time. It’s lovely.”

Class time becomes something grandparents genuinely look forward to. It's not just childcare, it's connection. Knowing that your child is spending that time happy, settled and still going to the classes they're familiar with can be a huge comfort when adjusting to work life.

Our classes are fully guided and welcoming so grandparents don't need to worry about what to do or how to join in. Everyone is supported and everyone belongs. Tots Play has always been about community, our classes are for babies and toddlers and for whoever brings them!
