Why the Start of a New Term is the Perfect Time to Join Tots Play

After six weeks of summer holidays, life can feel a little different.

The routines you had before the holidays have probably gone out of the window, the days have become a bit more unpredictable and if you're anything like lots of parents, you might be wondering what the next few months are going to look like.

You might even have caught yourself thinking, "Maybe we should try a class this term..." before talking yourself out of it.

"Will my baby be too young?"

"Will my toddler actually join in?"

"Will we fit in if everyone else has been coming for ages?"

If you've had any of those thoughts, you're definitely not alone.

Why September Feels Different

There's something about a new term that just feels like a fresh start.

For little ones, it's a lovely chance to get back into a gentle weekly routine. And for parents, it's often about having something to look forward to each week, somewhere to get out of the house, spend quality time together and enjoy a change of scenery.

After the busyness of the summer holidays, having that regular class to come back to can make a real difference.

It's Not Just About One Great Class

It's easy to think of baby and toddler classes as just something fun to do for an hour each week.

But that's not really how little ones experience them.

The first week, they might just sit and take everything in. The next week, they start recognising the welcome song. A few weeks later, they're already looking around for the bubbles before they appear, joining in with familiar songs, or giving you a huge smile because they know what's coming next.

Those little moments are often the ones parents love the most.

They're not big milestones, but they're lovely reminders that your child is becoming more confident, more familiar with the routine and more engaged every week. It's one of the reasons so many families tell us Tots Play becomes the highlight of their week.

More Than Just Filling an Hour

If you've ever spent ages scrolling through social media looking for activities to do with your little one, you'll know how hard it can be to work out what's actually worth trying.

One of the things parents love about Tots Play is that you don't have to choose between music, sensory play, baby yoga, massage, signing, movement or physical play. They're all brought together naturally in one session, so your little one gets a lovely mix of experiences while you enjoy spending that time together. And because many of the activities are simple to do at home too, lots of parents say they leave feeling more confident about playing with and supporting their child's development during the rest of the week.

"But We've Never Been Before..."

This is probably one of the biggest worries parents have. Walking into a room where you don't know anyone can feel a bit nerve wracking.

The lovely thing about a new term is that there are always new families starting too. Chances are, someone else is feeling exactly the same as you. At Tots Play there's no expectation for babies to stay happy all session, toddlers to sit still, or parents to know exactly what they're doing.

Babies need feeding. Toddlers have wobbles. Sometimes you'll spend half the session having a cuddle or following your little one around the room. That's completely normal and honestly, nobody bats an eyelid.

The Best Time to Start?

If you're waiting until your baby is a bit older, your toddler is a bit calmer or life feels a bit less busy, you could be waiting forever. The best thing about starting at the beginning of a new term is that everyone is settling into a new routine together.

Before you know it, you'll be recognising familiar faces, your little one will be joining in with favourite songs and Tots Play will just become part of your routine.

Looking Ahead to the New Term

Whether you have a tiny baby who's just starting to discover the world, an older baby who wants to explore everything, or a busy toddler who's always on the go, a new term is a lovely time to start.

If you've been thinking about giving classes a try, why not make this the term you do it?

Many Tots Play classes also offer trial sessions, so you can come along, see what it's all about and make sure it's the right fit for you before committing to a full term.

We'd love to welcome you and your little one and help you find a class you'll both look forward to every week.
